In Memoriam - Tony Jojola

Legendary Native American glass artist Tony Jojola of the Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico, passed away on December 28, 2022 at age 64. Jojola, who lived in Taos for many years, worked with Dale Chihuly in the 1970s at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, and again with him in the late 1990s when Taos Glass Arts and Education was established by Chihuly and the late Kathy Kaperick. In 1999, Jojola and Chihuly established the Taos Glass Workshop. He also worked on Chihuly's team during the making of the Venetian series. Jojola’s work has been exhibited in the Wheelwright Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Heard Museum, and the Burke Museum.
