TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
Prague
Explore 3 days in Prague and gain exclusive access to a private collector's home to see their glass art collection - a rarity to have this opportunity in Europe! Galerie Meridian and Galerie Kuzebauch will be hosting special exhibitions just for our group. And the incredible artist Vladimira Klumpar is excited to welcome you to her private studio where you will see a demonstration and also see the work of her son, Matyas Pavlik, a budding glass artist who is on the rise! To close out our stay, we will visit the fabulous Lasvit Gallery and meet some of their artists. You also will tour the city and see the cultural highlights.
Zurich/Basel
Spend a day in Zurich, and on the way to Basel see the beautiful Chagall windows in the Fraumunster Church. In Basel the group will have two days to explore the city and visit a number of artist studios. One of the exciting artists you will visit is Simon Berger, best known for pioneering art made by breaking glass with a hammer. He is in collections worldwide.
Philipp Brogli, who created Artstübli, is planning a special exhibition at his gallery space for our group. The exhibition will feature the unique works of Pascal Decaillet & Michèle Jenata. It is dedicated to the medium of glass which is the main form of expression for these two artists.
Uniworld River Cruise
In Basel, the group will board the luxurious Uniworld River boat - a small cruise vessel for 150 maximum passengers. Sail along the Rhine with Germany on one side, France on the other. Discover Alsace, whose dual French and German heritage has given it fabulous food and a winemaking tradition going back to the Romans. Marvel at castles, once mighty fortresses, and get an insider’s look at the impressive Rheinstein Castle. Visit historic cities, including Cologne and Strasbourg. Stroll through the fairytale town of Rüdesheim, and taste delightful white wines in the villages where the grapes are grown.
Along the way, plenty of glassy adventures are planned! An esteemed professor of glass will meet the group in Koblentz to share his knowledge of glass art in the area, and he has a special glass experience planned for the group. Then it is on to Cologne where we will be met by Wiktor and Magdalena Borowski who will take the group to their gallery, Continuum, in Dusseldorf. They have arranged a special lunch for the group as well as an exhibition, providing an exclusive look at the latest contemporary glass sculpture they have brought into their gallery. The cruise ends in Amsterdam.
You can choose to return home when the cruise ends, or extend your trip for two more days with our optional extension in Amsterdam. More details below.
Trip Extension: Amsterdam
After the cruise is complete, you can opt to continue the tour with our optional Amsterdam extension. There will be so much more to see as you immerse yourself in an art tour of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam extension will include a special visit to artist Babara Nanning's collection. Barbara also is arranging a special exhibition of regional artists. Additionally, you will take in the sites of Amsterdam, as well visit an incredible design gallery in the region!
