Added September 2010

The original house, which was designed and built by a woman, dates back to 1905. An addition was designed and built by the collectors in 1995. Since this was prior to the beginning of the collection, no provision or accommodation for glass (such as lighting, display cabinets, niches or areas) was incorporated in the addition. Years after the collection began, additional lighting was added where possible to highlight the pieces. Unfortunately, the 27-foot ceiling in the family room, where much of the collection is displayed, prevented adding any additional lighting in that room. The collectors have family in Australia, so many pieces in the collection were acquired on their many trips to that country. As room for new pieces began to become a consideration, a conscious decision was made by the collectors to focus on figurative work.

Our Mission

The Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) is a not-for-profit organization and leading resource for glass collectors, art enthusiasts, artists, gallerists, museum personnel, and educators on all things related to glass art. AACG provides a collaborative place for robust conversations about glass art, including its production, techniques, and trends. We also encourage and support the glass community through annual grants and artist scholarships.
