An exhibition of contemporary glass art to celebrate the International Year of Glass and pay homage to Torres Esteban, a pioneer of Studio Glass in Spain, who organized the first exhibition of contemporary glass works in Spain in 1983.
When Joaquín Torres Esteban ( Santa María de Nieva, Segovia , 1919- Madrid , 1988) organized the VICOINTER '83 exhibition and presented the works of 127 glassmakers, something truly unusual in Spain took place . The success of this exhibition, in which works glass artists from 21 countries were presented, further encouraged Torres to decisively promote the creation of a museum dedicated to the New Glass Movement in the National Museum of Ceramics and Sumptuary Arts “González Martí " in Valencia, a co-sponsor of this exhibition.
