About Grant Garmezy

Grant Garmezy grew up on a farm outside of Nashville, Tennessee. As long as he can remember, he's been fascinated with the arts and working with his hands to create things. His artistic career began when he was very young, taking drawing classes with a local illustrator. He became serious while in his teens, and spent multiple summers at intensive arts programs for high school students. His passion to pursue a career in the arts led Grant to Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond. Garmezy initially set his sights on jewelry and small-scale metals. However, a fortuitous encounter with a glass studio sparked a profound love affair with the molten medium.

Garmezy's artistic inclination veers away from functional glassware, finding greater resonance in the medium's sculptural potential. Unlike other materials, glass cannot be sculpted by bare hands - the medium demands specialized tools, precise timing, and gravity to manipulate its molten form. Rooted in a profound reverence for the natural world, Garmezy’s sculptures depict animal imagery and natural forms. He strives to capture expression and movement in order to elevate the work from a sculpture to a story.

Garmezy’s social media platforms reach millions of followers monthly, allowing him to connect with clients worldwide. He maintains enduring partnerships with prominent glass-centric companies such as Kugler Colors, HisGlassworks, and Mobile Glassblowing Studios. His creative prowess extends to collaborations with industry giants such as Discovery+, Paramount, Marvel, and Universal Studios.

As a seasoned artisan with a global footprint, Garmezy has showcased his craft across continents, from New Zealand to Africa. His works are held in esteemed collections worldwide, including Bangkok, Barcelona, Cyprus, Dubai, the Hamptons, Paris, Tokyo, and Venice. Based at his home studio in Richmond, Virginia, he frequently collaborates with his wife, Erin, an artist who specializes in flameworked glass. Together, their combined vision produces intricate, detailed adornments and sculptural pieces that captivate and inspire on a truly global scale.
