The room is either a king or two doubles, and valet parking overnight will be $38, and we will not be charged a second night for leaving the cars their until evening. Cancellation policy is by noon the day before check in. This room block will be held until May 8, but get your reservations in now. We will have a bus picking up and returning to this hotel. However, you are not obligated to stay there. You can make the reservations by calling 1-888-236-2427, or we have a special online reservation link: Start date: 6/7/17; End date: 6/8/17; Last day to book: 5/8/17.  Marriott hotel(s) offering your special group rate: The Franklin Hotel at Independence Park for 229.00 USD  per night.  Book your group rate for Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass

Evening:  At 5:30 p.m., the National Liberty Museum (321 Chestnut St.), which is across the street from the Franklin Hotel, will host a wine reception for our group and a preview of their new exhibition Transparency: An LGBTQ+ Glass Art Exhibition, that will have just opened.

Dinner is on your own. A recommended restaurant that is also across the street from the hotel is Buddakan (325 Chestnut St.), or any other restaurant you wish to enjoy.

Thursday, June 8

The bus will pick us up at the Franklin Hotel around 10 (time to be confirmed later) to transport us to the Barnes Foundation where we will start with a one-hour docent-led tour at 10:30 a.m.  You will also have time on your own to explore the museum’s collection.

We will enjoy a private lunch at the Barnes at 12:30 to 1:30 or 2 p.m. The bus will pick us up a little after 2 p.m. to take us to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

At the Philadelphia Museum of Art, curator Elizabeth Agro will take our group through the exhibition of panels by Lino Tagliapietra.

At 3:45 p.m., the bus will pick us up at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and take us to a very special cocktail party at the spectacular downtown Philadelphia apartment of Suzanne and Norman Cohn. The Cohn’s will host our board and advisory council members at a cocktail party with heavy hors d’oeuvres. At 5:30 p.m. the bus will pick us up there and take us back to the Franklin, where you can pick up your luggage in storage (you will have needed to check out that morning). Then we will get in our cars and drive to Millville for an evening event put on by WheatonArts for GlassWeekend ’17, time to be determined. You will probably arrive in Millville around 7 p.m. or so to check into your hotel, so the WheatonArts event will probably start around 8 p.m. It will be a get together with desserts and beverages. The Cohn event will serve as dinner that evening, or if you aren’t attending the Cohn event, you might want to have dinner before the GlassWeekend dessert gathering.

COST OF PHILADELPHIA DAY (not including hotel, parking, transport from airport) $160 per person. Because we must pay the museums and bus up front, the cost is nonrefundable.

If you wish to pay by check, click here for a registration form you can mail in with your check.

Friday, June 9

AACG will hold its interim board meeting on the grounds of WheatonArts, time and location to be provided later. GlassWeekend ’17 will start around noon that day.
