AACG 2019 Member Trip: Milwaukee, WI

AACG 2019 Member Trip: Milwaukee, WI

Put a deposit down today to guarantee your place on our exciting art-filled Milwaukee, Wisconsin trip, taking place September 18 - 21 (with departure Sunday, September 22).

When making your travel plans, we’ll start with dinner on Wednesday evening. Please arrive by 5:00 pm.  Our trip will end after a Farewell Dinner on Saturday night. You can leave anytime on Sunday, September 22.  (Wednesday’s dinner will be an optional, add-on price in case you cannot get there by dinner time.)

We will be staying in downtown Milwaukee at a brand new, art-focused hotel: the Saint Kate Arts Hotel. In addition to art-inspired guest rooms, the hotel will feature a gallery, an artist-in-residence studio, and a theater space for performances, screenings, talks, and workshops. We will notify you when you can make your hotel reservation at the special AACG group rate.

In Milwaukee we’ll visit The Milwaukee Art Museum, with its wonderful glass collection. Then on to The Harley Davidson Museum - no explanation needed. We’re working on home collections to see.

We’ll take a day trip to Racine, Wisconsin, where we’ll first visit The Racine Art Museum.  Then on to the S.C. Johnson Headquarters where we’ll see the last commercial building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.  More to come for that day's activities.

On our day trip to Neenah, Wisconsin, we’ll first visit the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass.   Executive Director Jan Smith will give us a tour. Then we’ll visit a “pop-up glass gallery” organized by glass artist Keith Clayton. Here you’ll have a chance to see and perhaps buy a work of art by Keith Clayton, Ross Richmond, John Kuhn, Joe Ivacic, Jack Schmidt, Randy Solon, Christen Theilkings, Owen Brady, and Mark Petrovich. Some of these artists will be there to explain their work.

Next we’ll visit Beth Lipman’s studio. Joining Beth will be glass artists Deana Clayton, Stephanie Trenchard, and Jeremy Popelka who will show us some of their works and explain the techniques they use to create their art.

Because additional details for the trip are still being planned, we don't have the total cost yet, but it will be comparable to previous AACG member trips. We only ask for your $200 per person deposit right now, which will then be applied to the total cost when we are ready with the final price. As with every AACG trip, $200 per person of the total cost will be a tax deductible donation to AACG.
