2020 Norfolk Board Meeting: Registration & Information

The AACG 2020 interim board meeting/trip will be held in Norfolk, Virginia, April 16-19. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE is Sunday, MARCH 16! The trip will start at 6:00 p.m.on Thursday, April 16, when we will meet in the hotel atrium lobby to get name badges and enjoy cocktails, a tour of the art, then dinner. You can make travel plans any time on Sunday, April 19.

We will stay at the brand-new Glass Light Hotel, built by our members Doug and Pat Perry. We’ll be surrounded by contemporary glass from the Perry's collection on every floor! Hotel registration information is below.

We will hold our board meeting at the Chrysler Museum of Art, after which Chrysler Glass Curator Carolyn Needell will introduce us to the Chrysler’s extensive glass collection. We’ll have ample time to explore the museum. We will also visit the glass hot shop/studio where Program Director/Studio Manager Robin Rogers will discuss their program.

We’ll visit the Barry Art Museum at Old Dominion University, founded by AACG members Carolyn and Richard Barry and where Jutta Page is the Executive Director. We’ll also drive to the coast where we will visit several homes to see their art collections and have lunch in a private room of a restaurant with a view of the ocean. Matthew Fine of Okay Spark Gallery is planning a pop-up exhibition for us.

Hotel Information:

Our hotel is the Glass Light Hotel, 201 Granby St., Norfolk, VA. Our rate is $213 (plus tax) for one or two in a king or double bed room, and and includes a $35 breakfast voucher per room per day. The rate is available three days pre and post on a space-available basis. Valet hotel parking is available for $29 per night, or off site self-parking is available in a city garage located behind the hotel for $19 per day.

Hotel reservations MUST be made by March 16. After that date, you will not be able to get the AACG rate, and rooms may no longer be available at all. If you book using Marriott points, please e-mail Linda with this information ( so the room will be counted toward the AACG room block. You will need a credit card to reserve a room, and you may cancel at no charge until two days before arrival. A fee of one night plus taxes will be charged to you if you cancel after this deadline. The hotel has only 4 suites, and to upgrade to one of them you must call the hotel to book and pay the hotel full rate.

The cost of the trip is $350 per person and includes buses, museum admissions, 2 dinners (Friday dinner is on your own), and 2 lunches. Airfare, airport transfers, and hotel costs are separate. You can register either:
Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations made before the trip starts will include a full refund ONLY if the trip is sold out and you can be replaced on the trip by someone on the waitlist. If there is no waitlist, there will be NO refund if you cancel less than 2 weeks before the start of the trip. If you cancel before the 2-week deadline, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid less funds already committed to trip vendors.
