Martin Janecky's first solo exhibition was presented by the Marta Hewett Gallery in 2007 and the response to his exceptional work was overwhelming.

This 28 year old artist was born in the Czech Republic and began his career in a glass factory at the age of 13.  While training in Novy Bor in glass blowing, Martin began exploring hot sculpting methods.  By the age of 20 he was employed by leading artists and designers in Sweden, Holland, South Africa and India to assist and execute specific works.

In 2003, Martin first traveled to the United States as a demonstrating artist for the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass.  Since that time, he has served as an instructor, visiting artist or gaffer at the Corning Museum Studio, Penland School of Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School, Public Glass, Pratt Fine Arts Center and the Tacoma Musuem of Glass.

In 2006, Martin was the recipient of the Salvador Dali Award, presented by the European Union of Art in Brussels.
