David Whitehouse Steps Down as Corning Museum Director

After 12 years as executive director of The Corning Museum of Glass, David Whitehouse is stepping down but will remain a senior scholar at the museum. His position will be filled by Karol Wight, 52, head of antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum‘s Getty Villa in Malibu, California. Wight is a well-known specialist in Roman glass and the author of Molten Color: Glassmaking in Antiquity . She will officially take over at Corning on August 15. During his 27 years at Corning, Whitehouse grew the museum’s collections by more than 40 percent and lead a renovation and expansion, completed in 2000.
